It is a representative of Kashgar and Uyghur classic culture and one of the famous tourist attractions in Kashgar and even Xinjiang. Most of the buildings in the old city are full of Islamic and Uyghur styles, and the streets are crisscrossed with a unified style, which is very suitable for taking pictures. Walking among them, visitors feel like they have entered a foreign land in Central Asia, which is very magical.

The main hall of the mosque is over 160 meters long, with spacious corridors and eaves. The ceiling is decorated with exquisite wood carvings and painted patterns. During the grand Islamic festivals of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, the mosque square becomes a place where Uyghur people gather to celebrate. In front of the mosque square, local Uyghur elders sit together and chat leisurely, and many people fly pigeons.

阿拉尔金草滩.png

Stone Citadel is a famous ancient city ruin on the ancient road in Xinjiang. The castle is built on a high hill, and the situation is extremely precipitous. There are multiple layers of intermittent city walls outside the city, and the stone hills overlap between the partition walls, forming a unique stone city scenery. During the Han Dynasty, this was the royal city of Puli, one of the 36 countries in the Western Regions. After the Tang Dynasty unified the Western Regions, there was a Congling guard station here. In the early Yuan Dynasty, major construction projects were carried out to expand the city, and the old stone city took on a new look. In the 28th year of Guangxu, the Qing court established a Puli hall here to repair and supplement the old city. In 1954, it became the capital of Tajik Autonomous County.

塔什库尔干石头城.png

Panlong Ancient Road (with complimentary aerial photography) in Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, Xinjiang, is located within Wachang Township of the county. Stretching across the Kunlun Mountains at an altitude of approximately 4,100 meters, it resembles a giant dragon lying among the peaks when viewed from afar, guarding this holy land of the sacred mountains in western China. It is said to span about 4,100 meters in elevation, with over 600 bends—most of which are 180-degree or even 270-degree turns. Whether for the visual thrill or the driving experience, it sends one’s adrenaline soaring and stirs the heart. As the saying goes, after navigating this winding road, you will have left all of life’s twists and turns behind—and the path ahead will be smooth and open.

It is said that there are 72 people of five generations of the same family buried in the tomb (actually only 58 tombs of various sizes are seen). The first generation is the famous Islamic missionary Yusufuo Huojia. After his death, his eldest son, Apake Huojia, inherited his father's missionary work and became a famous master of the "Yichan sect" of Islam in Kashgar during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. He once won the regime of the Yarkand Dynasty. He died in 1693 and was also buried here. Because his fame surpassed his father's, people later called this tomb the "Tomb of Apake Huojia". Legend has it that among the descendants of Huojia buried here, there is a woman named Yipaerhan, who is the beloved concubine of Emperor Qianlong. Because she has a constant scent of sand jujube flowers, people call her "Xiangfei". After Xiangfei died, her sister-in-law Su Dexiang escorted her body back to Kashgar and buried her in the Tomb of Apa Huojia, so people also call this tomb "Xiangfei Tomb".
